Helping people live their lives to the fullest
I am a Resident in Counseling (M.A.) under the supervision of Dr. Carolyn Sinclair, LPC, CSAT, CPTT and Gabrielle Anderson, LMFT, RPT-S. In my prior
life I worked as an elementary school teacher, mentor, and educational trainer.
I have significant professional experience working with children and adults in
building relational alliances and providing psychosocial, emotional, and
developmental education and support.
As a therapist I
believe that every person has a vast potential for growth and the ability to
change and overcome difficult life situations. I am passionate about strengthening
children, individuals, and couples by providing a compassionate and non-judgmental
environment. I use a psychodynamic relational approach that recognizes past
experiences and relationships to impact a person’s current ways of thinking and
relating. My areas of clinical interest are anxiety, depression, trauma, grief,
life transitions, attachment, and relational issues.
I am seeking
licensure in VA as well as becoming a Registered Play Therapist. I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and plan to integrate the Gottman Method in my work.
Clinical
Perspective— I believe in person-centered care and in the importance
of integrating the latest in clinical research and training into interactions
with clients. I will use a range of counseling best practices and
approaches as we work together toward healing and hope. Most importantly,
my approach will be centered on your needs.
Faith Perspective—For clients bringing a faith perspective, I honor and integrate their beliefs into the counseling process. It is my belief that each client brings an inherent dignity and worth which informs my interaction and approach for each person I serve.

WHAT TO EXPECT: First
we will have a phone consultation to share a bit about ourselves and ensure
we’re a good fit. In the beginning we should plan to meet weekly for
50-minutes. As we progress, we often transition to every-other-week. Session
frequency can be adjusted as needed. To ensure my professional growth and provision
of high-quality care for clients, I meet weekly with Carolyn Sinclair, a VA
State Licensed Supervisor and LPC, and bi-weekly with peers for supervision.
CURRENT PRACTICE LOCATION: 1768 Business Center Drive, Suite 360, Reston, VA 20190
RATES: $150 per 50 minute session
A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I completed my undergraduate studies at Saint
Mary’s College of Maryland with a B.A. in Psychology and my graduate studies
at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary where I received an M.A. in Clinical
Counseling. I live with my husband, Keith, in Sterling, VA. We have three
young adult children and 2 dogs who all keep life adventurous. I'm a bit of foodie and love to travel and organize gatherings with family and friends. For rejuvenation I run, read, and occasionally binge shows.
